Christ the King Bible Fellowship (CKBF) began as a Bible study in the winter of 1998. The Spirit of God led Minister Jimmy Miller to begin the New Convert Bible Study for new Christians and God blessed the study. We began to grow both spiritually and numerically. After several months, the Lord led us to begin a new church. Although our church did not yet have a name, we knew that God had called William “Tony” Moore as Pastor and Jimmy Miller as Associate Pastor. As a congregation, we fasted and prayed until we were on one accord of what God was calling us to do. Following the leading of the Lord, and with counsel from other clergy, we held our first service on May 2, 1999. Thirty people were in attendance at the home of Jimmy Miller, where we dedicated CKBF to God. We sang praises to our awesome God, heard our first message, and had great fellowship with a family dinner. Within three months, we had grown to 50 congregants and moved to the home of Pastor Moore. God blessed us in August 2000 with Andre? Sims (Doctoral candidate at Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, TX) as our Senior Pastor. He came to us from the staff at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, in Dallas where Dr. Tony Evans serves as Senior Pastor. Pastor Sims’ wife, Kathy, and 2 children accompanied him. Upon his arrival, God saw fit to remove the eight-month prohibition to complete the construction of the remodeled storefront located at 33310 Pacific Highway South. On August 4, 2000, the church moved out of the Moore’s home and held its first worship service in the storefront. By February 2001, CKBF was holding two Sunday services having grown to 130 people joining us in worship. The decision was made to move to a larger facility. So, Easter Sunday of 2001, we held our first service at Adelaide Elementary School gym. Our move to the school resulted in a drop in regular attendance. We continued to prayerfully trust in the Lord by following the lead of the Holy Spirit. We began by meeting in the north side of the gym with an average of 85 attending. In September 2001, attendance had returned to 130 and we moved to the south side of the gym. Three months later, for our Christmas service, we were occupying the entire gym with an average of 200 people. By spring of 2001, CKBF was able to fill two pressing needs – Education and Administration. Kevin “KC” Cook (also from OCBF), moved here with his wife, Zenobia, and infant daughter, and became the Youth/Christian Education Pastor. In addition, Ruth Epps from Temple Church in Nashville, TN, became the Administrative Assistant. In the summer of 2001, Stephn McNeal from Cedar Heights Baptist Church, Cedar Falls, IA, came on board as Director of Evangelism. He moved here with his wife, Bonnie, and their six children. In the fall, Shane and Dayle Conrad joined CKBF and implemented our highly successful Awana program.Fervently praying, the Lord continued to bless us, and our ministry grew. CKBF began 2002 with the membership participating in a weeklong fast seeking God’s will and guidance for our congregation. We soon became aware of a church building in Federal Way, which could facilitate our current needs and room for expansion. Although we had almost no money and other churches were also bidding on the property, we followed what we believed to be the Lord’s guidance and pursed the purchase of the property. Isaiah 7:9 tells us, “…Stand firm on your faith, or you will not stand at all.” We did not have the funds and could not secure affordable financing, but, as a congregation, we stood firm on our faith and moved forward. We believed in the principle that when you trust in the Lord, He will do what man cannot. The result was a God-sized miracle. He provided a gift of $1.5 million to purchase the building and made a way for us to take possession of the property three months sooner than anticipated! On June 30, 2002, CKBF held its first service in our newly purchased facility where we are presently located. We adopted an official mission statement of Growing People from Every Tribe, Tongue, and Nation into Disciples. This mission is accomplished through five areas of ministry: Outreach, Christian Education, Worship, Fellowship, and Administration. We are dedicated to having the membership of our church reflect what heaven looks like – people from every tribe, tongue, and nation. We are striving to reach all those living in our local community. Below are some ways we have been steadily moving towards this goal.
The other 30% consists of Caucasian, Asian, American Indian, Latino, and multi-ethnic people
